MAY IT BE THE CAUSE OF LISTERIOSIS ?

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN SHORT OF STAFF

Shortage of workers in the Department of Health who are responsible for inspecting food materials might have an impact on the Listeriosis not being tested here in South Africa.
This was said by the Minister of Health, Doctor Aaron Motsoaledi at the parliament. Apparently the Department is in short of 3300 workers in Environmental Health.

Now food inspection is being done by the municipality so Minister of Health was seeking power from the parliament to go and check on workers who are under environmental health so he could be able to add more workers.

Mr Motswoaledi has a point, maybe the workers are really overloaded with work. I hope the parliament gives him what he is asking.

  1. This is a really shocking issue.
But it could mean more job opportunities for our unemployed graduates.

  2. listeriosis is a disease that already killed many people in south Africa, so as it is stated that it can end up not been tested ,because we are lacking environmental health, so the other side it increase job opportunities.

  5. The worst part is that the are graduates who do not have jobs but the government on the other side is not employing. People are going to die because of the short staff

  7. If the government could come up with strategies to fight this disease, maybe, just maybe, graduates could get jobs and experience that is needed when applying for a job.

  8. I think that these factories should be held responsible for this, they cant continue giving silly excuses while people are dying out there. its their responsibility to make sure that that they find workers. many people who have the right qualifications are out there with no jobs and these people could not employ them because they greedy. they should take the fall man!

  15. My fear is with those individuals from deep down rural areas, how are they going to be informed as they lack access to media such as internet and TV.

  16. Since we survived in IBOLA.. then there's nothing that can stop us from surviving this Listeriosis.

  20. The department claims that the is a shortage of staff, whereas the are thousands of South African`s who are jobless ,this excuse really does not add up.
When I was doing Geography I learnt that a country can perform depopulation(decrease of population in a country), Maybe listeriosis is just another technique to decrease fellow South Africans.
